SafeSport Certified and Background Checks

All coaches and adults who directly work with minors must be SafeSport Certified and have a background check through  RegisterPlay. 

• Adults include: scorekeeper, manager, team parent (mom/dad), players who turn 18 years old
• Background check is $25.43
• There is no charge to take the SafeSport online course
• It is video based multiple choice questions throughout
• 1st time users usually take 90 minutes to take the course. Yearly refresher courses take approximately 30 minutes

You must download your SafeSport Certificate then upload it into RegisterPlay

ACE Certification

All coaches in the dugout must have current SafeSport and background check. 1 coach needs to be ACE certified .No Exceptions - SafeSport & background check need to be completed before starting ACE Certification

As of 8/25/25: RegisterPlay is completing ACE integration. More information when it is complete.

USA Softball is the National Governing body of softball in the United States. Federal law requires all organizations and associations affiliated with a National Governing body must be SafeSport and ACE Certified. For more information and/or report a concern see Safe Softball on USA Softball site.

Concussion Certificate

Per Oregon State Law, coaches must take annual concussion protocol training. This is now part of USA Softball of Portland compliance. Each year coaches must take concussion protocol training and upload their certificate in RegisterPlay to be compliant.
